Job Application Tracker ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you pull the details of a job posting from the page you're viewing and log them in a Google Sheet that you own. This policy explains what data the extension uses, why it uses that data, and where the data goes.
In short: your data goes only between your browser and your own Google Sheet. We don't run servers that receive your data. We don't sell it, share it or use it for advertising.
Data the extension uses
- Job page content. When you open the extension or click "Extract from this page", it reads the job posting in your current tab: structured job data, page metadata and visible text. It uses this to fill in the company, role, location and description. It reads only the tab you're on, and only when you take one of these actions.
- The current tab's URL. The extension uses it to check whether you've already logged this job, and to keep any unsaved edits you made for that posting.
-
Google authorization token. With your permission, the extension gets
an OAuth token from Google for the Google Sheets scope
(
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets). It uses the token only to create your tracking spreadsheet and to read and write rows in it. The extension doesn't request your email address, profile or any other Google account data. - Settings and drafts. The extension saves the link and ID of the Google Sheet you connect in Chrome's sync storage. It saves your unsaved form edits in Chrome's local storage, and deletes drafts automatically after 30 days.
Where your data goes
-
The job details you save go straight from your browser to your own Google Sheet
through the Google Sheets API (
sheets.googleapis.com). - Settings and drafts stay in your browser's Chrome storage. If you've turned on Chrome sync, Chrome may sync your settings across your devices.
- The developer has no servers or analytics that receive this data, and can't see your spreadsheet.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or transfer your data to third parties.
- We don't use your data for advertising, credit checks or lending decisions.
- We don't track your browsing history. The extension reads a page only when you take an action.
- We don't use your data for anything other than the extension's single purpose.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Job Application Tracker's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Feedback forms
The "Report a bug" and "Request a feature" links open Google Forms. Anything you choose to submit there is collected by Google Forms and used only to fix and improve the extension.
Your choices
- Revoke access: remove the extension's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Delete local data: uninstalling the extension deletes its stored settings and drafts.
- Delete logged jobs: your job entries live in your own Google Sheet. You can edit or delete that sheet at any time.
